An apple a day……

Try this a kid friendly, super easy to make, afternoon snack!  Kayla LOVED it!

We were reading her High Five magazine and it had a recipe for Roasted applesauce…but it had butter in the ingredients…and surely you do not need it to make roasted apples taste delish!

3 Ingredients:

  • 2 Apples (I use Gala because they are so sweet!)
  • 1-2 teaspoon of Sugar (yes…I said sugar).  
  • sprinkle of Cinnamon (as much or as little as you like)

Note:  Sugar.  There are 15 calories in a tsp of sugar.  I am trying to get away from anything artificial (so Splenda is now limited for me).  Sugar is natural…so if God allows it on this earth, surely a little will not kill me.  Plus perhaps i’ll skip to the mailbox in lieu of walking and just burn it off.  😉  Truly….we didn’t even need the sugar, but for our 1st time making this, we added it.


Preheat oven to 400 F.

Wash and dry apples.  Cut apples in half.  Cut out center core.  Slice apples.  I prefer to leave the skin on my apples since there are so many health benefits to the skin itself! 🙂

Line a small square pan with tin foil (for easy cleanup).  Place apples in pan.  Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.  Tightly cover the pan with tin foil.

Bake for 20-25 minutes…until they are fork tender and it makes a nice juicy glaze.

Plate and enjoy!!!

Note:  You can also peel the apples during prep and use this recipe to make your own applesauce! 🙂
