Sometimes temptation comes wrapped in packages so pretty…you almost can’t tell that it’s a means to an end…not a beginning. For evil, not good. To hold you back, not let you fly.
Maybe it’s a relationship, maybe it’s a job, a hobby, an individual, etc. Sunshine and rainbows turned dark clouds and storms. You know…”How could I have been so stupid, so confused?” “Why did I think that relationship was going to go anywhere good?” “Why did I think that choice was going to help my finances?” “How could my thinking get so twisted?” Have you ever been there?
LEARN TO RECOGNIZE THE TWISTS! Temptation is not from God…it is of the Enemy (yes…that would be Satan). God may allow the temptation for the purpose of testing you to develop your character and refine you…but He will never tempt you himself. When you can quickly recognize the ploys of the Enemy, the quicker you can combat it with scripture and prayer and not give in to the twists!
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. ~ James 1:13
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.~ James 1:2-4
Even JESUS was tempted by Satan! Read Matthew 4:1-11 And Jesus replied (v.10-11 ~ Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written,“‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’” Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.)
